The superb motor-bike week-end with Betty, in the 'Valais'  Back to Index
First stop 'Lac de Champex' above Orsiere.

Beatiful & peacefulplace.

Perfect Saturday, September 19, 09.

Weather conditions sunny & dry.

We Visited the exposition 'Fondation Pierre Gianadda' in Martigny where, amongst other, the 'Courbet a Picasso' organised by the Pushkin Museum Moscow, was exposed and represented an excellent stop over, before continuing our juorney.

If you are nearby, it is worth-while visiting!

Especially the historic  museum of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Really fascinating what this man has invented during his lifetime.

Betty, getting ready for take-off  from Martigy again, heading direction Ardon.
In the evening, we left the bikes at home and off we went for a long walk above Saviese, where there is a wanderful 'Walweg', same as we have in Südtirol.

There are for sure some nice and idyllic places on the way where one can sit down and relax, also to enjoy the beatiful view into the valley of the 'Rhone'.

High up, small paths but well done and safe.
What an experience up here, really an excellent place to enjoy, relax and come back again to switch off.
We had to move on and turn back as it was getting a bit 'latish' in the evening but, one day we'll be back, then sit down and have a pick-nick.
Well, if you are frightened of such hanging bridges high above the nowhere, then, better stay away from it.......
This is, what it looks like watching down....
This Bear looks real, it really had frightened some people coming up here, till they realised he does not move.
The Club-house of Saviese, some happy people enjoying a week-end apero in peace.
Back home later in the evening, enjoyed a beautiful meal with fish and vegetables. A local red whine called 'Syrah', could not be missing either.

After Dinner, Melanie & Olivier joined for a nice, pleasant chat till...quite late. Sorry not having a picture, it did not turn out nice in the candle-light environment.......

Next time!

Breakefast in the morning outside in the garden with sunshine, was a perfect start into a new, exciting day.

The route went past the Brasserie Valaisanne to Saviese, all the way up to Crans Montana and down to Sierre.

A beautiful bike ride!

A Western place in Gampel, was really our pre-final destination before heading up to Goppenstein, where I took the train through the Alps to reach Kandersteg after 15 km, to save time and a long, boring way over the motorway.
The place is quite popular for bikers and one just cannot walk past some exotic samples....

My 'private suite' on the train and quickest way to reach from Vallis to Berner Oberland.

From Kandersteg, my way home went past Interlaken over to Brünig-pass where I stopped to say hello to Peter, Iri's cousin. Then, headed back home to reach Widen and have an apero with Iris, around 5.30 on sunday.

What a beatiful week-end ! Thanks to Betty to have insisted that the weather in  the Vallis would stay nice and dry, despite all very bad meteo forecasts by the press and, the pessimistic but well-meant views of Iris, sending out warning messages throughout, being warried that we could get wet........
